THE ARTWORK
The mural art is a crop of an artwork taken from Ajay’s forthcoming exhibition Australian Escape; a small collection of recent landscape studies. The simplicity of the mural art aims to evoke a sense of nostalgia, hoping to connect the audience to familiar ideas of Australia’s sun stricken landscape. As suggested by the name, Australian Escape takes the viewer on a journey into the mind of Ajay, offering itself as a channel for communication and escapism. Australian Escape is showing at The Nook Gallery, Mornington on Saturday the 27th of February, 6-9pm for one night only.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Alex ‘Ajay’ Jennings is a Melbourne-based Artist whose interests lie in the realm of image-making and its relationship with visual and verbal language. Having lived half his life in rural Victoria, the other half in the city of Melbourne, as well as a great portion spent globetrotting, Ajay has developed a unique perspective on human interaction and communication. Through Art & Design and a visceral collaboration with the viewer, he hopes to position a narrative that challenges people to see beyond the object.

“This artwork is a mix of all the things I love most – bright colours, bold shapes, mid-century advertising posters, a little bit of geometry, and of course, birds! THE ARTWORK
"The artwork presents a wizard dreaming of paradise – an ode to escaping the nine-to-five daily grind. I wanted to keep the colours simple, allowing the piece to pop out against the laneway and for the piece to be humorous and light hearted. I think this reflects what The Snake Hole is all about – we never want to take ourselves too seriously!"
