Opening night: Fri 22 Sep 2017, 7–10pm
Exhibition runs until: Sat 23 Sep 2017

Arswandaru Cahyo’s It's All Right is an exploration of daily life. In particular the exhibition explores the role and influence of technology in todays world. Arswandaru draws inspiration from his own experiences living in a tropical paradise, and to create surreal and psychedelic pieces. Influenced by surf and skateboarding culture as well as his love for music, Arswandaru’s satirical style and clean work lends itself to conveying the nuances of this lifestyle.

Since moving to Bali, Arswandaru has become surrounded by pseudo health fads, such as clean eating and veganism, and become acutely aware of a societal addiction to technology and the Internet. He explores these themes in his work to give the audience insight into his own perspective and life.  It's All Right depicts the daily life of Arswandaru and explores his love-hate relationship with technology today.

Artist Profile
Born in Surakarta Indonesia, in 1990. Arswandaru’s work has progressed from abstract styles during his university days to its more conceptual style today. Technically, his work is heavily influenced by vintage tattoo flash, especially the simple depictions of pinups and skulls. Also his love of skateboarding and music culture. However he feels that his current style has been most heavily influenced by the job he held during university. Whilst studying art philosophy at the University of Indonesia, Arswandaru was a pencil artist for a comic publishing company. There he learnt many illustration techniques that have been extremely useful in finding his own unique style. It’s this style, and Arswandaru’s continued efforts in refining and developing his skills.
