La Máscara is a solo exhibition by Bonnita Gillard.
Bonnita has been exploring the craft of mask making for many years. La Máscara will be the first time she has shown a body of work with masks as the primary focus. Bonnita’s art is motivated by traditions of the ancient world; a celebration of Paganism, mythology and folklore. Her masks are vibrant portals into the imagination of the human psyche, leaping into the realms of natural phenomenon.
About the artist: Bonnita Gillard is an artist, researcher, writer and sound therapist living on the Mornington Peninsula. Influenced by the relationship between nature and the cause and effect that it has on the human spirit, her practice explores the art of adornment, ceremony, customs and rituals.
Bonnita’s artwork has been exhibited and can be found in many private collections around the world.
